Gujrat Man Arrested for Torturing Wife and Shaving Her Head

A woman was subjected to severe domestic violence and had her head shaved by her husband during a domestic dispute in the Jalalpur Jattan area of Gujrat. Upon taking notice of the inhuman incident, District Police Officer (DPO) Akhtar Farooq Butt immediately ordered the formation of a specialized investigation team to look into the matter. Law enforcement moved quickly to address the assault, registering a formal case at the Saddar police station in Jalalpur Jattan to initiate legal proceedings against the perpetrators.

Following prompt police intervention, the primary accused husband, identified as Siraj Qamar, was arrested along with his mother, Sughra Bibi, and an accomplice named Zain Islam. Authorities are currently conducting a thorough interrogation of the three suspects to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding the assault. DPO Akhtar Farooq Butt strongly condemned the act, reiterating that the department will enforce strict legal action against anyone involved in gender-based violence and physical abuse against women.

This incident highlights a disturbing, reoccurring trend across various regions of Pakistan where victims are publicly humiliated by having their heads shaved as a form of social punishment or family revenge. Recent similar cases include an incident in Chakwal where a mother was assaulted and had her hair trimmed by a furious family over a free-will marriage dispute, as well as a case in Pakpattan involving a youth facing similar public degradation. Local rights groups continue to emphasize that robust legal enforcement is essential to dismantle these systemic patterns of domestic abuse and public humiliation.
