ISLAMABAD: Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni arrived in Pakistan on Monday on an official visit, leading a high-level delegation for discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation on security, border management, and regional stability.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi received the visiting dignitary at the airport. Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry were also present to welcome the delegation.
As part of the reception ceremony, Talal Chaudhry presented a bouquet to Minister Momeni, symbolizing the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Iran.
Welcoming his Iranian counterpart, Mohsin Naqvi said he was pleased to receive the delegation in Pakistan and expressed confidence that the visit would further enhance cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
During the visit, senior officials from both sides are expected to hold comprehensive talks on a wide range of issues, including border security, counterterrorism cooperation, the prevention of cross-border crime, anti-smuggling measures, and the promotion of legal trade between the two countries.
The visit comes at a significant time as Pakistan and Iran continue to strengthen diplomatic engagement amid evolving regional security challenges. Both countries have repeatedly emphasized the importance of close coordination to ensure peace and stability along their shared border while expanding economic and security cooperation.
Officials are also expected to exchange views on regional developments and explore new avenues for collaboration in law enforcement, immigration management, and intelligence sharing.
The visit of Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni is being viewed as another important step toward deepening Pakistan-Iran relations and reinforcing the commitment of both governments to maintaining strong diplomatic, security, and economic ties.
