ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces killed 10 terrorists and arrested two female suicide bombers along with their alleged facilitator during a series of intelligence-based operations conducted in Balochistan’s Surab and Mastung districts over the past 48 hours, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the counterterrorism operations targeted militant hideouts in Surab and Mastung as part of an ongoing campaign to dismantle terrorist networks operating in the province.
The military said seven terrorists were eliminated in Surab, while three more were killed in Mastung. During the Mastung operation, security personnel also apprehended two female suicide bombers and their alleged facilitator before they could carry out planned attacks.
Intelligence-Based Operations Continue
The ISPR stated that the operations formed part of a broader effort to eliminate militants linked to what it described as India-sponsored Fitna-al-Hindustan and Fitna-al-Khawarij.
The government uses the term Fitna-al-Khawarij to refer to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while Fitna-al-Hindustan is used for Balochistan-based militant groups allegedly backed by India.
According to the military, multiple intelligence-based operations (IBOs), area sanitisation missions and targeted raids were carried out across both districts over the last two days, resulting in the deaths of 10 militants and the arrest of the suspected suicide bombers.
Weapons and Explosives Recovered
Security forces also recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) allegedly being used by the militants.
The ISPR said the arrested female suicide bombers and their facilitator were affiliated with Fitna-al-Hindustan, adding that further investigations are underway.
Search Operations Underway
The military said clearance and sanitisation operations are continuing in the affected areas to locate and eliminate any remaining militants or facilitators.
“The sanitisation operation is being conducted to eliminate any other India-sponsored terrorist found in the area,” the ISPR said, reaffirming the security forces’ commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Balochistan.
The latest operations come amid Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign aimed at dismantling militant networks and preventing future attacks across the country.
