Twin Falls, Idaho: At least three people were killed and seven others injured after a gunman opened fire at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday afternoon, according to local authorities.
Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks confirmed that the suspected gunman was among those killed during the incident, adding that officials believe there is no ongoing threat to the community.
“We believe the threat to the community is over,” Hicks said, noting that authorities were still working to notify victims’ families and confirm the final casualty count.
Describing the aftermath, Hicks called it “a very chaotic scene” as emergency responders rushed to the restaurant to assist the injured and secure the area.
Witness Describes Chaotic Moments
Eyewitness Lane Koehn said he was stopped at a nearby traffic light when he saw a man carrying an AR-style rifle exit the restaurant’s drive-through area. According to Koehn, the armed suspect was then confronted by another individual carrying a pistol, and gunfire erupted.
Koehn also witnessed an employee dragging a woman who had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest to a safer location while they waited for paramedics to arrive.
“She was pretty bad off, but I don’t know. I hope she made it,” Koehn said.
Investigation Underway
City spokesperson Josh Palmer said investigators believe there was only one attacker, although authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Police are working to establish the suspect’s identity, determine a possible motive, and confirm whether anyone else may have been involved.
The names of the victims have not yet been released pending notification of their families.
Officials Respond
Idaho Senator Mike Crapo expressed gratitude to emergency personnel for their rapid response to the incident.
“I’m grateful for the swift response of Idaho’s first responders,” the senator said.
Law enforcement officials remain at the scene as investigators collect evidence and interview witnesses. Authorities have urged anyone with information or video footage related to the shooting to contact police as the investigation continues.
