LAHORE: Police have made significant progress in the investigation into the tragic deaths of a mother and her three children in Valencia Town, Lahore, after recording the statement of the children’s father. The incident, initially linked to suspected ice cream poisoning, has now taken a new turn as investigators examine the woman’s reported mental health history.
According to police, the children’s father, identified as Nasir, told investigators that his wife had been suffering from psychological distress and mental health issues for the past three years. He claimed she had discontinued her prescribed medication nearly six months ago.
Father’s Statement
In his statement, Nasir said he returned home carrying groceries and asked his wife where their children were. She allegedly replied that the children had gone to watch a movie with a woman named Fatima.
He said he questioned why the children had gone without him, adding that they could have gone together as a family. According to Nasir, his wife then insisted that he eat some ice cream because he had not eaten anything since morning.
Nasir further stated that while they were arguing, neighbors knocked on the door and informed him that the children were lying unconscious in the rear courtyard.
He told police that he rushed outside and found all three children dead. Shortly afterward, his wife’s health deteriorated, and she was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Ice Cream Under Investigation
The grieving father expressed suspicion that, due to her deteriorating mental condition, his wife might have mixed an unknown substance into the ice cream served to the children. However, investigators have not confirmed this claim.
Police emphasized that forensic examinations and laboratory reports are still pending, and no final conclusion has been reached regarding the exact cause of death.
Multiple Angles Being Examined
Investigators described the case as highly sensitive and complex, stating that several possible scenarios are under review. Authorities are collecting forensic evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing all available information before reaching any conclusions.
The family originally belongs to Pasrur in Sialkot district. Police have also contacted the deceased woman’s relatives residing in the United States and Canada to gather additional background information that may assist the investigation.
Investigation Continues
Officials have urged the public to avoid speculation while the inquiry remains ongoing. Police said the final findings will depend on forensic evidence, toxicology reports, and the results of the ongoing investigation.
The tragic incident has shocked residents of Lahore and sparked widespread concern, with many awaiting the official investigation report to determine what led to the deaths of the mother and her three children.
