‘Shandaar’ inspired by real-life roadside killings, says Wajahat Rauf

Director Wajahat Rauf says his upcoming crime thriller Shandaar, set to air soon on Express Entertainment, takes inspiration from a number of real-life roadside killing cases that have sparked public debate in Pakistan.

Rauf told The Express Tribune that the 16-episode series incorporates parts from multiple situations rather than being centered on a single incidence.These days we frequently hear about fatal traffic accidents. Subsequently rumors surface that powerful individuals were purportedly involved, and the cases were extensively discussed on social media he stated.

Rauf claims that Shandaar which he characterizes as a fast-paced crime thriller rather than a direct retelling of any one event, was inspired by these instances.

Shamoon Abbasi, Shahzad Sheikh, Areeka Haq, Ali Dayan, Ahsan Afzal Khan Laila Wasti and a number of other actors make up the show is sizable ensemble cast.

A few images from the drama’s set were recently posted by actor Shamoon Abbasi on social media, providing viewers with a preview of the next series’ production.

“My character in this show is absolutely different from the characters I have performed in the past” stated actor Shamoon Abbasi. Additionally, it was my first time working with Wajahat Rauf and I had a great time.

When asked what sets Shandaar apart from the various dramas that are now airing on television Rauf cited its realistic performances and foundation in actual events.It stands out, in my opinion, because it is based on genuine stories. Aside from that, our ensemble cast is outstanding, and the performers have done a fantastic job portraying their roles” he remarked.

The filmmakers goal according to Rauf is to deliver a compelling crime story with a fast-paced plot while maintaining the most realistic approach possible. Express Entertainment is anticipated to launch the 16-episode series shortly.
