Chuwi has quietly launched its new GTBook X gaming laptop, combining a relatively recent Intel processor with Nvidia’s older GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU.
The laptop is powered by the Intel Core 7 230H, a Raptor Lake-based processor featuring six performance cores, four efficiency cores and 16 threads. The chip can reach speeds of up to 5.2GHz and includes 24MB of Intel Smart Cache.
Graphics are handled by an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU with 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM. Chuwi has configured the GPU with an 80W TGP, while Dynamic Boost can raise power consumption to 95W. The company claims the system can deliver combined dynamic CPU and GPU power of up to 140W.
However, the use of the RTX 3050 means the GTBook X does not support newer Nvidia technologies such as Frame Generation and Multi-Frame Generation (MFG), which are becoming increasingly important for improving gaming performance on affordable laptops.
The GTBook X features a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display with a 1920 × 1080 resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. Whether the hardware can consistently reach 144 frames per second in modern games without relying on upscaling remains uncertain.
For memory and storage, the laptop comes with 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a 512GB PCIe SSD. Users can upgrade the memory to as much as 64GB through its two SO-DIMM slots. Two M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 slots are also available, supporting storage upgrades of up to 2TB.
Cooling is handled by a dual-fan system with five heat pipes, designed to manage temperatures during demanding workloads and gaming sessions.
Connectivity includes HDMI 2.1, Mini DisplayPort, USB-C 3.2, three USB-A ports, Gigabit Ethernet and an SD card reader. The laptop also supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.
Other features include an RGB-backlit keyboard and Windows 11 Pro, making the GTBook X suitable for both gaming and everyday productivity.
The Chuwi GTBook X is listed at $999 on the company’s US store. While the price may appear high considering the older RTX 3050 graphics platform, Chuwi’s combination of a modern processor, upgradeable memory and storage, and a 144Hz display could make the laptop an interesting option for buyers seeking a gaming machine in the current market.
