Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan firmly stands in solidarity with the government and brotherly people of Iran during this profound period of national mourning. Speaking after attending the official state funeral of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran, the Prime Minister extended his heartfelt condolences on behalf of the state and citizens of Pakistan, paying rich tribute to the departed leader’s historic legacy.
Reflecting on the late Supreme Leader’s decades-long leadership, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s extensive wisdom, courage, patience, and unwavering vision left a profound influence not only on Iran but across the wider region, adding that his commitment would be remembered for generations to come. The Prime Minister noted that the late leader served his nation with total sincerity and an steadfast devotion to regional unity.
To demonstrate the depth of Pakistan’s solidarity, the Prime Minister was accompanied by a high-powered national delegation to the funeral ceremonies at the Grand Mosalla complex. The delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, and prominent parliamentarians, including Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, alongside other senior ministers and government officials. Following the conclusion of the funeral rituals, the Prime Minister departed Tehran for an official state visit to Turkiye.
